Meet Our Executive Chef - Eric Heinrich

Chef Eric Heinrich’s passion for cooking began at a young age, inspired by family events centering on homemade, traditional meals. He developed a deep appreciation for fresh seafood, spending his early summers fishing, clamming and lobstering in southern New Hampshire, and testing new, innovative recipes in his kitchen. At 14, Chef Eric began cooking for others, including family, friends and his local Cub Scout group.

Chef Eric pursued a formal education at the New England Culinary Institute, graduating at the top of his class and staying behind for more than two years as an instructor at the Essex Junction campus. In 1993, he moved to New York City, where he established his culinary roots working alongside well-known chefs, including Alain Ducasse, Christian Delouvrier, Erik Maillard and Ed Brown. His innate abilities afforded him unique opportunities to prepare meals for and entertain special guests; most notably, a 90th birthday dinner for the renowned Julia Child.

In 1996, Chef Eric ventured south and established a small restaurant on St. Pete Beach in Florida. He headed back to New England thereafter and began his career with Starwood Hotels, joining the culinary team at the Westin Copley Place. While there, he was responsible for the renovation and relaunch of its seafood restaurant. Boston Magazine penned an honorable review, and he was recognized for “Boston’s Best Clam Chowder.”

Chef Eric joined the Westin Waterfront as Executive Sous Chef before becoming the Executive Chef at the Sheraton Boston Hotel. His focus on innovation and reputation for creativity yield great success planning custom, unique menus for guests and clients alike.

Chef Eric continues to draw inspiration from his upbringing, practicing sustainability and sourcing from local farmers, and incorporating regionally grown ingredients – including herbs grown on property and honey produced from beehives on the Sheraton Boston rooftop. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his three boys and participating with the Festival of Trees, benefitting the local food bank.
